We are non-denominational Christian Church that was planted out of the “Restoration Movement” in 1890. This movement was focused on restoring the “simplicity, structure, and power” of the New Testament church. We are grateful for this heritage and now, over 125 years later, our passion remains to see the church be an effective tool in the hands of God to bring the love of Jesus to all who would accept Him.
While we used to be surrounded by rural farmlands, Thurston is now strategically located in a highly residential area with multiple schools all around us. Each day hundreds of cars pass by and city buses stop nearby as well.
With statistics and personal experiences that tell us that at least “8 out of 10 children will leave the church before their sophomore year in college” we are focusing serious prayer and attention on recapturing the heart of the next generation for the glory of God.
How do we do this? Relationship. In a world that knows only about “virtual relationship” we believe that the church is called to open a door for them to enter into “virtuous relationship.”
Therefore you will find that we are a “family” of believers with a unique mixture of people from all walks of life. We are a church with diverse personalities, views, likes, dislikes, strengths, and weaknesses. Yet we find a common purpose and sense of unity in our single-minded desire to love God, the Thurston Community, and one another.
Never before has Thurston had so much opportunity to reach out and restore the hearts of people for Jesus Christ. We are excited about all that He can and will do through our church body, as we join Him in his grand work and let Him take our future and make HIStory.
